The Door Opens

Today, I get to open the door on Still Here, even if just a little.

I don't know how to write a post like this without it feeling at least a little inadequate for the moment it's trying to hold. So I'll just tell you the truth instead of trying to make it sound bigger than it is.

This book started as something I never intended to share. It sat unfinished for a long time, written for no one but myself, and somewhere along the way it stopped feeling like something I was making up and started feeling like something I was simply lucky enough to finally get right. I've written before about the quiet way a story can change the person writing it before it ever reaches a reader. This is the book that taught me that lesson most.

Nash and Tessa have lived in my head for a long time now. Today, I finally get to tell you they're coming, and that soon, they'll get to live somewhere else too, in whatever quiet corner of your own life you choose to read them.

Still Here is coming soon, and I couldn't be more grateful you're here for it, even before it exists anywhere but in my hands.

More details soon. For now, I just wanted you to know the door is officially open.

Until next time, may you always find beauty in the quiet places where stories begin.

Warmly,
Sheridan Laine
